It looks like there are still a large number of open issues with WordPress 2.5 RC1. The list is indeed getting shorter but its obvious there are still many bugs that need worked out before an official release is going to happen.

While we are all a bit disappointed with the continued delays, I would rather wait for a bug free version than jump into a new version that would cause me problems.

Will the new release of WordPress 2.5 cause your site problems? It could very well be possible, pending on the plugins that your site is currently using.

It would seem there are a number of plugins that are not ready to handle WordPress 2.5

The following plugins are currently not working or causing issues with WordPress 2.5

• Absolute Comments 1.0: Comment management screen has changed, so it no longer has anywhere to hook into.
• Access Keys 0.6: Access keys on categories no longer work.
• Advanced Category Excluder 1.1 - doesn’t support feeds for tags / tag feeds empty
• Advanced Tag Entry: Discontinued for 2.5 - WP admin screens take over functionality
• ExecPHP Widget 1.0 - Does not work with 2.5 widgets, upgrade to the PHP Code Widget. Same widget and author, new version and name.
• Enhanced WP-ContactForm : Causes visual editor popups to be blank, Breaks visual editor buttons.
• FeedBurner FeedSmith 2.2 - doesn’t support feeds for tags
• More Fields 0.5: Plugin admin panel works, but doesn’t add anything to the Write/Edit pages
• NextGEN Gallery 0.83: Version 0.90 will be for WordPress 2.5 , inlcuding fixes/changes for gallery tag
• Registered Only 2005-05-12-2000: Unable to upload to media gallery when plugin is active.

• Themed Login and Register 1.1 Completely non-functional with new login screen.
• Tiger Style Administration 3.0 Too many admin changes for this venerated plugin to work properly any longer.
• Twitter Tools 1.1b1 Create tweets from your sidebar not working.
• WPG2 3.0x: Fundamentally broken, Wordpress 2.5 compatibility to be released in version 3.1
• WP Super Edit 1.5: Version 2.0 will be for WordPress 2.5

Well it looks like we are still waiting on the official release of WordPress 2.5 I know we are all getting excited and the delay is a bit on the sucky side, but you have to give credit to the devs for taking such care and attention to this upcoming release. However there is some good news, we have been given the opportunity to take a sneak peek!
