Yahoo says no to $42 Billion dollar offer by Microsoft. Could it be Yahoo is taking a stand after Microsoft’s proxy threat?
April 9th STCFX will be getting naked. Now don’t get crazy, our staff will be fully dressed, it is only the site that will be naked in support of international CSS Naked Day. Just as last year, and the year before, sites all across the net will be getting naked and going without their css style sheets for the day.
Now what is this all about you ask?
CSS Naked Day is a day to celebrate web standards and show support for all the designers who make our sites look “pretty”.
Can you recall years back when sites were formatted with tables and font tags? When just a simple change of formatting would require you to hunt for dozens (or even hundreds) of tags on dozens of pages?
CSS Naked Day also gives you a chance to see your site the was PDA’s and HandHelds do. This is also a great way to showcase the functionality of your site. Without the fluff and glitter will your site still function correctly?
The idea behind this event is to promote Web Standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and of course, a good ‘ol play on words. It’s time to show off your <body>.
For WordPress users running versions 2.x you can use the WordPress Naked Day Plugin. For WordPress versions below 2.x you can use CSS Naked Day WordPress Plugin
and for non WordPress sites you can look into the Naked Day PHP Function script
Now don’t be shy, get naked and show your support

Mozilla turned 10 years old yesterday. Since its launch March, 31st 1998 the project has grown and has had many accomplishments. Mitchell Baker posts that the project expects to see just as much success in the next 10 years.
“During much of our first ten years people “knew” that our goal of creating choice and innovation in the browser space was impossible. From that perspective we have achieved the impossible. It certainly wasn’t easy, but here we are today in a radically different setting. “

Update to Facebook : No Escape:
After removing all personal information I could, I deactivated my account and found that nothing happened. Nothing is removed or deleted, I can even still receive emails, be invited to groups and be sent messages.

A security laps in Facebook has allowed strangers to gain access to your personal and so called “private” photos. This is not the first and I doubt the last security issue with FaceBook. It would seem more and more we are hearing about personal data that is supposed to be secured being compromised.

I hope everyone did their part last night and went lights out for Earth Hour. Even the big shots turned off their lights; Google turned its site black to show its support.
It was interesting to see Google trying to lend its support, however a person can’t help but laugh at the fact that Google itself did a study last year and said “displaying black may actually increase energy usage.” However its the point of it all I suppose.
I must say though Its nice to see some of the big players giving back a little and showing their support for genuine good causes like Earth Hour. more people should follow suit.

Well as always the rumors are floating around about good old Google. Seems this time the talk is all about Google wanting to buy out digg.com Word is that Google had made an offer of $200-$225 million
True or not this has made for some interesting reading. Jay Adelson Digg CEO tried to hush the subject, however I can’t say he was very successful in doing so.

Source: WikipediaIts seems there is a bit of trouble in paradise or should I say Google headquarters? Seems Google has been loosing mant top employees to Facebook of all places. Could it be that Facebook is giving the big “G” a bit of competition?
Forbes had a few words on the subject:
“Poor Google. Its stock has been sliding since the beginning of the year. Now key executives and engineers are trickling out and heading to the Internet’s latest darling, Facebook.”
“Within the last year, other Googlers have departed for Facebook. Among them: Gideon Yu, former chief financial officer at YouTube, Google’s video-sharing site, who is now chief financial officer at Facebook; and top engineers Benjamin Ling and Justin Rosenstein.”
OUCH! I wonder if the top brains at Google saw this coming?
The backlash from this is going to be pretty interesting to follow.
