It has been announced that Google intends to shut down its operations with the pagerank campaign as of January 1st. Even with the new attempts to clean up its algorithms to weed out fake PR sites and PR sharing tactics with the recent pagerank update, it seems webmasters and SEM specialists are finding new ways around it. It would seem the PR project is just more trouble than its worth and will be discontinued.
Are you freaking out yet? If you are I have proved my point well.
None of the above is true, its all BS, crap, untrue and just plain fake.
Now what would you do if it were true? Have you been working to promote your site with other engines? How are your SERPs looking or have you been focused only on building your pagerank up?
It would seem since the launch of the PR project that everyone has lost sight on building up a strongly promoted site with stable SERPs and put all of their time, efforts and money into reaching a higher pagerank.
Now don’t get me wrong, if your site reaches a high PR then thats great! I love the PR project and hope to do well with it myself. I am not against pagerank by any means. I am however one for having a back-up-plan and resources to fall back on should something fail.
When is the last time you checked to see how many results you have in AltaVista, AllTheWeb, Live or even Yahoo?
Keep working to obtain a higher pagerank but don’t forget or loose sight of your search engine ranking positions either. Remember, there are other engines to promote your site with as well.
Besides, your are supposed to be building your site up to be found, enjoyed and shared by real people - not just search bots.
